Exploration III – Understanding Time

I see time as a river, and myself as a rock. Days flow past, sometimes by the minute, sometimes hours at a time. The speed of the river is not important, because the self is always experiencing the same moment. For example, we often consider time as a linear arrow, with the past leading causally towards the present, which will go on to impact the future. But since we only ever experience the present moment, we can also reorient our view of time to a more present-centric view. Imagine the center of a lake, and all experience being comprised of “ripples” made from events occurring in some other part of the lake. You are constantly receiving the ripples of events from the past, and the imaginings of the events of the future.
