Exercise II – Gratitudes

For my Body, I am grateful for:

  • carrying me on my two mile walks this week
  • returning to a more regular sleep schedule

For my Mind, I am grateful for:

  • continuing to find new and interesting things to help my mental health
  • recording my thoughts in journal entries
  • communicating well with uncle and father in law, showing our eagerness to learn
  • communicating well with mother in law, helping to keep her calm and to offer her comfort and stability
  • communicating well with my wife, and bringing us feelings of closeness and love
  • being excited to learn C, and thinking of ideas of how to implement practice programs in a way we find interesting
  • remaining optimistic and kind to ourselves

For my Spirit, I am grateful for:

  • never giving up on myself or my relationship
  • understanding that I am a human being, and that I deserve grace
  • steering me towards good things, and away from negativity

I love myself in so many ways. I am creative, passionate, and relentlessly hopeful. Bad things may come into my life, but good things will as well. The key to managing these emotional swings is recognizing which periods are influenced by mostly bad things, to be redirected and supported through, and which are influenced by mostly good to be enjoyed and cherished. I recognize that progress moves back and forth, like a pendulum, and I need to be ready to sway in time with that progress, and not be tempted to unreasonable expectations.
