Exploration 27 – Sleep, Eat, Study, Apply to Jobs

Hello world. Cycle 2 of Q2 has come to a close, and it was a busy one. I’ve been feeling quite a bit of stress this month. We had a busy week at work, then I had a challenging time getting my plates swapped over at the DMV, then we had a whirlwind Mother’s Day with both sets of parents coming by the house, and also my wife had her last day of work and also also I’ve been applying to lots of places and also also also I’ve been doing a lot of studying for my CompTIA+ cert. Lots of things this cycle.

We had a goal to send 70 applications, but was only able to get about 40 out. We did do several interviews and also finished our initial CompA+ notes, so trying to give myself a bit of breathing room. There’s been a lot of new things, and a lot of clearly stressful things.

Two days into Cycle 3 of Q2, and I’m holding off on setting a Cycle goal, waiting to see if the most recent interview yields an offer or not. If it does, then the goal will be to study for CompTIA+ Test for a certain number of hours. If it does not, then the goal will be to send another 60 applications.

I’ve been able to restore my sleep schedule this past week, and that’s been very positive. Its been nice not feeling tired in the morning. However, due to some other stress we’ve gained a few lbs in about the same time, and thats been negative. I’m hoping to bring things back under control today and over the next few days.

Studying for CompTIA has been challenging. There’s a lot of continual stress involved, and its difficult to maintain a consistent schedule with other things going on in the background. For now, I am still chugging a long, a bit at a time. The goal for this Q is not to pass the test, just to sit and take it. Passing would be great, but its not necessary. The goal of CompTIA A+ is to have something to put on my resume to attract interviews, and I’ve had several already. This is a Long Term Goal, which means it is not essential to complete in the Short Term. If we fail in the short term, we will adjust and take note of why that happened, and we will be able to do things differently for the next attempt.

Currently, having completed the notes, I am taking practice quizzes online using different sites. I’ve been having mixed results so far. A lot of success on the physical hardware questions, but less success on the port numbers and different policy questions. This gives me good info on what to study for this third cycle before sitting down to test.

Also good to mention that we’ve been really locked in on work activities lately as well, closing the end of the month it appears we’ve been really keeping up on the morning routines. Good for us.

The last few days lets just have a nice and easy ride into the end of the month. We’re on track to pass 400 activities, going to focus on maintaining healthy patterns and a diet adjustment towards more healthy eaiting.
